An event recap of the Atlanta Homebuilder Industry Veterans 2011 party. I shot and edited this piece and was asked to ‘capture faces and people interacting.’
graphics for gaga

Lady Gaga receiving the "Big Man" award I designed with Barbara Pyle's photo of Clarence Clemons
It’s only so often that I get to do graphic-exclusive work, so this was a really special opportunity. Barbara Pyle got a call from the team at Little Kids Rock, a non-profit dedicated to music education, asking if they could use one of her Clarence Clemons photos as their ‘Big Man of the Year’ award. I was asked to create a design to house the photo, and used various elements both found online and created in Photoshop to build an old-school negative carrier look for the photo, and toned the photo and frame to look slightly weathered but still clean. Turns out the award was presented to none other than Lady Gaga! I wonder if it’s hanging in her house somewhere..
tribute to the big man
I worked with photographer Barbara Pyle to create four video tributes to “Big Man” Clarence Clemons using her pictures from the “Born to Run” era. I worked to create a unique aesthetic for each piece in the editing style to compliment the music and make them feel like individual pieces. I combined the best of Barbara’s photographs from all the pieces into one montage set to the solo from “Jungleland,” which was played with a live band at Clarence’s memorial. What an honor – he is a true rock and roll legend! The videos were also featured in Backstreets Magazine Online.
One of my personal favorites from the batch, “E Street Shuffle”:
environmental hero
Created for GreenLaw’s annual recognition of local Environmental Heroes, this video profiles Dennis Creech of Southface, Atlanta’s premier example of sustainable building. Shot by StudioFitz.
dirt bad men music video
My pal Evan Diprima asked me to put together this video for his band, the Dirt Bad Men. When I heard their old-school rock and roll sound, it screamed retro, which inspired me to pair it with footage from old B-movies. We shot the band in a barn in Monroe, GA. I used plastic wrap to give it that aged effect and installed a film scratch filter so it would match the old footage. All the b-roll was found on archive.org.
barbara pyle highlight reel
I edited this piece by selecting highlights from dozens of filmmaker Barbara Pyle’s speeches and features in her personal library for use at the Federation of American Scientists awards.
ray anderson
I cut this video for Greenlaw’s Environmental Heroes celebration which spotlighted Ray Anderson as their featured hero. Using an episode of People Count from Barbara Pyle’s collection, I pulled the best parts of a 30 minute special together to tell the same story in less than four. The video was played at the event in Atlantic Station.
radial
An experimental film created in Production I at Georgia State University. Co-edited with Josh Sterling. New footage shot by Shana Mortensen. The piece won Judge’s Choice at the 2010 GSU Film Festival!
socks alive!
This is our big project for Emerging Media at Georgia State and we also submitted it in Campus Movie Fest. It won CMF Staff Pick and the AT&T Mobile Award, and also received nominations for Best Costumes and Best Effects. I wrote the script and theme song, edited, voiced, and created the core puppet design.
geek girl
Tasked with creating an ‘in-camera’ documentary, I decided to make my girlfriend Melissa my subject and interview her about her now 20-year-old Star Wars collection. All shots are ‘as-is’ aside from color and sound. No trimming, shot in order. Won Judge’s Choice at the Georgia State 2010 Film Festival.
